Perry Williams, 89 of El Dorado, AR, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas .

Born on February 9, 1925 in Strong, AR; he was the son of Benjamin P. and Ora Odessa Russell Williams. Perry served in the U.S. Army in WWII and spent nine months in a POW camp after being captured by German Forces. Perry Williams, 89 of El Dorado, AR, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas .

Born on February 9, 1925 in Strong, AR; he was the son of Benjamin P. and Ora Odessa Russell Williams. Perry served in the U.S. Army in WWII and spent nine months in a POW camp after being captured by German Forces. He was also a veteran of more than 20 years with the El Dorado Fire Department retiring as Assistant Chief. An avid Razorback football fan, he was a member of the Arkansas Razorback Football Club and held season tickets for over 30 years. Perry enjoyed reading and studying the bible and teaching Sunday school at Southside Baptist Church where he was the longest serving deacon. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth L Goodwin, Reba Gammill and Wilma Pine, and brothers Charles Williams and Jimmy Williams and son David 'Randy' Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Nelson Williams; son Mark Williams of El Dorado; daughter Barbara McGaugh (Mark) of Bentonville, AR; brother Edwin Williams (Inez) of Benton, AR; along with grandchildren Abby Nicole Williams, Jennifer McGaugh, and Amanda Jones (Caleb) and great grandchildren Aidan and Noah Jones.

The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Directors Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Young's Chapel with Rev. Terry Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
